Questionnaire on the Participation Willingness of Guangzhou Residents towards Urban Edible Landscape

Brief(简介):

My name is YANG HUIHUA, and I am currently a doctoral student at Universiti Putra Malaysia. This is my doctoral research survey, aimed at helping me explore the basic attitudes of Guangzhou residents towards edible landscaping activities, including their levels of awareness and acceptance. The survey is divided into two parts: the first part will require you to enter demographic data, and the second part will ask you questions about the basic attitudes and awareness of edible landscapes in Guangzhou, China. You will also be asked to rate your preference for various attributes of Guangzhou's edible landscapes on a scale from 1 (strongly disagree) to 5 (strongly agree).

Clarify Edible landscaping is a horticultural design approach that combines food production with landscape design, aiming to integrate edible plants such as vegetables, fruits, herbs, and edible flowers into traditional ornamental landscapes. It can be found in private gardens, public parks, urban farms, rooftop gardens, or green infrastructures. In edible landscapes, the plants grown can be traditional flowers and trees as well as fruit trees, vegetables, herbs, and other edible plants, for example, as part of fences, walls, rooftop gardens, or vertical gardens. This concept emphasizes the importance of integrating food production with urban landscape design, making full use of land resources to develop edible landscapes to promote urban environmental sustainability, community engagement, and food security.

Part A of the questionnaire is designed to collect respondents’ demographic information, including basic personal characteristics such as gender, age, educational attainment, and income level. These variables will be incorporated into subsequent structural equation modeling analyses as control variables or grouping variables to help explain differences in residents’ willingness to participate in, and behaviors related to, urban edible landscaping.
