You are invited to participate in a study led by MU Yuxuan, who is a student of the Department of English and Communication at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). The project has been approved by the Human Subjects Ethics Sub-committee (HSESC) (or its Delegate) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HSEARS20251212010).
The aim of this study is to analyze students’ perspectives with flipped learning. Findings from this study will contribute to the strategic planning of technology-enhanced learning in multicultural academic contexts in the future.
If you choose to participate, you will first be asked to complete a questionnaire, which will take approximately 20 minutes. The questionnaire can be completed online. Upon completion of the questionnaire, you may voluntarily choose to participate in a follow-up individual interview. This interview is expected to last 30-40 minutes and will be scheduled at a time convenient for you, either online or face-to-face at PolyU. The interview will focus on key questions related to your opinions and experiences regarding flipped learning. The interview will be audio or video-recorded for accurate transcription and analysis. The recording will be deleted once it has been transcribed. All transcripts and related data will be stored securely on PolyU password-protected drives. In some cases, I may also invite you to review short written summaries or documents after the interview to confirm the accuracy of the collected information.
None of these activities will cause any physical discomfort. All information related to you will remain confidential and will be identifiable by codes only known to the researcher. You will not be asked for any details about yourself such as your name or your HKID. Your personal details will not be stored or reported in any research outputs. You have every right to withdraw from the study at any time without penalty of any kind. Your participation in this research does not affect your student status or your marks in future subjects. If you would like to obtain more information about this study, please contact MU Yuxuan (email: maggie.mu@connect.polyu.hk Telephone: 61974863).
In the event you have any complaints about the conduct of this research study, you may contact the Secretary of the PolyU Institutional Review Board in writing (institutional.review.board@polyu.edu.hk) stating clearly the responsible person and department of this study as well as the HSESC Reference Number.
